Adjustments (aka Manipulations)
When you think of Chiropractic, what comes to mind? The “pop”, the “crack”, the “fold you into a pretzel” idea? Usually, an adjustment, also known as a manipulation, is what people associate with chiropractors; and this is an important part of what we do.
Adjustments use precise force to specific joints in the spine, shoulders, hips or extremities. We can use a variety of techniques to affect this change, from gentle mobility to more forceful options. No one approach is right for everyone. Which technique we use is a conversation between doctor and patient, finding an option that is the right balance of effectiveness and patient comfort.
Why do we perform these? There are numerous benefits, including:
Pain relief: Many people seek chiropractic care to alleviate back pain, neck pain, headaches, and other musculoskeletal discomforts.
Improved joint mobility and flexibility: Adjustments can help restore proper joint function, allowing for better range of motion.
Enhanced nervous system function: Proper spinal alignment may facilitate better communication between the brain and the body's organs and tissues.
Deep Tissue Massage
While the adjustment is an important tool, it isn’t the only one. Working the muscle and fascial tissue through a combination of cupping, IASTM, vibration and percussion tools, and good old fashioned thumbs and elbows reduces tension, breaks up scar tissue and adhesions and increases blood flow. This allows for less pain, better movement, and improved function.
Other Therapies
Ultrasound, electric stimulation, cold laser, Kinesio taping, etc. We have a host of other options for getting you out of pain and back in balance.
Gym Training & Functional Movement
Passive care is important. Getting you out of pain and restoring movement are the first priority. But once this is accomplished, do the symptoms come back? Do we find ourselves treating the same thing over and over?
If you are dealing with the same things over and over, then the gym is where we will end up. When we say “gym” we don’t mean fitness training, we mean functional movement.
Functional movement is assessing movement imbalances, teaching your body how to move correctly and helping you understand how to apply proper movement to all situations. While these can be applied to athletics, they also apply to your activities of daily living: sitting in the car, brushing your teeth, carrying groceries, cleaning the house.
Moving correctly and holding good posture are the foundation for pain free longevity.
Massage Therapy
While some soft tissue therapy is performed with our chiropractic treatments, we also offer more traditional massage. Our therapists use a variety of techniques to fit your health goals. From general wellness and stress relief to focused deep tissue therapy for specific issues, we can provide safe and effective massage services.
Other Services
Nutrition
Chronic inflammation of joints and tissue can lead to long-term pain. We can provide detailed anti-inflammatory diets, 30 and 60 day detox protocols, and order and interpret detailed blood panels.
Mental Emotional
While not therapists, mental and emotional issues almost always come up in treatment. Unresolved trauma, stress, loss, and a host of other issues affect your physical health. We start with the physical, but often true healing lies in addressing these underlying issues. Our treatments are always in a private space and kept confidential.
